From a Random Book: Be Kind to Your Kin

Back in 2010 when I started this blog, I suggested a morning activity: pick a random book from your collection and randomly flip to a page. Read that page and use that as a morning meditation for yourself. Today's random selection is from Marriage Rules by Harriet Lerner.

"Rule #75: Be Kind to Your Kin: Especially the Grandparents.

When a child enters the picture, every family relationship is called upon to change. Kids raise the stakes for how you treat your kin, especially parents and the in-laws. Your behavior is your children's blueprint for family and will influence how you get treated when they grow up. How you navigate these adult relationships is the most important legacy that you leave your children. They are watching you."
